Volunteer Opportunities

 

Earn a Bike Instructor Aide

ˇ mentor & assist children, ages 9 to 17, in repairing bicycles

ˇ mechanical experience is helpful but not necessary

ˇ training provided

ˇ display a desire to work with children

ˇ 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm one night each week for 13 weeks

 

Earn a Bike Instructor

ˇ mentor & assist children, ages 9 to 17, in repairing bicycles

ˇ possess teaching & communication skills

ˇ complete Instructor Training & Bicycle Mechanics Course(four 2 hour sessions)

ˇ 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm one night each week for 13 weeks

 

Dropin Instructor

ˇ mentor & assist children, ages 9 to 17, in repairing bicycles

ˇ work with children in all aspects of upkeep of our facility

ˇ exhibit knowledge of bicycle mechanics

ˇ possess teaching & communication skills

ˇ 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm 1-4 times per month

 

Site Sanitation

ˇ clean the facility

ˇ to fit your schedule, 1-2 times per month, Monday-Thursday between noon-8 pm

 

Site Repair and Maintenance

ˇ make necessary repairs as needed

ˇ to fit your schedule, 1-2 times per month, Monday-Thursday between noon-8 pm

 

Volunteer Recruitment

ˇ make volunteer recruitment presentations to corporations, community organizations, churches and clubs

ˇ to fit your schedule, as necessary

 

Bike Collection

ˇ our youth programs are in constant need of donated bicycles

ˇ pick up donated bikes programs with referral agencies

ˇ to fit your schedule 

 

Reading Tutor

ˇ college student or recent graduate

ˇ display skill with teaching and tutoring

ˇ commit to assist with tutoring for one semester

 

Program Presenter

ˇ conduct informational sessions outlining our client programs with referral agencies

ˇ to fit your schedule

Custom Teaching

ˇ share your special skill or talent with the kids

ˇ previous classes have included cartooning, science, sculpting, modern dance...

Volunteer Coordinator

ˇ  conduct volunteer interviews, screening and initial orientation

ˇ  act as a laison between staff, volunteers and the community

ˇ  recognition of volunteers on a regular basis

 

Board of Directors

ˇ meet the second Monday of each month (except February, July and August) from 6:00 - 7:30 pm

ˇ serve three year term

 

Volunteers fill out an application form and agree to a local criminal record check.  Reasons for exclusion include convictions for child abuse, molestation, and sex related crimes. The effect of other convictions is considered on a case by case basis.
